RTP and volatility: what they mean
Two numbers tell you a lot about a slot before you spin: its RTP and its volatility. Here is what each one means.
RTP: return to player
RTP is the share of all play that a game pays back over a very large number of spins. A slot with a 96% RTP pays back 96 of every 100 coins played, on average, across millions of spins.
It is a long-run average, not a promise for any one session. A short session can land well above it or well below it.
Volatility: how wins are spread
Low volatility slots pay small wins often. High volatility slots pay less often, but the wins can be much bigger. Medium sits in between.
Two games can have nearly the same RTP and still feel completely different because of volatility.
